Google Fiber

Fiber was a new Google initiative to provide Gigabit-speed Internet to Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri. I was involved from initial conception through launch to define and deliver the website and signup process for customers. The build-to-demand business model required a new and unique method for acquiring customers. Everything on the site was built from scratch with limited time and resources. Fiber is now expanding into additional US cities.

Welcome

  • Fiber is offered in a very limited area to particular address types. Determining an address' eligibility required coordinating closely with the product management, operations, and engineering teams.

Get Fiber

  • Each Fiber city was divided into smaller "fiberhoods." To get Fiber, users first pre-registered their home to express their interest. If the home's fiberhood got enough pre-registrations, they were guaranteed installation. After the pre-registration period, homes in approved fiberhoods were invited to sign up and choose their service.
